Greenville, SC 29605
This service includes counseling, abdominal and pelvic examinations, all pre-and post-op medications, Rh immune globulin for Rh negative women, birth control counselng and pills, and labwork. The laboratory studies include hematocrit, urine pregnancy test, qualitative urinalysis, Rh typing, and pathological tissue examination when necessary. The procedure involves removing the pregnancy by suction curettage, the most widely used and sagest method of abortion. A woman can expect some discomfort during (except with general anesthesia) and immediately following the procedure, but should be able to return to normal, nonstrenous activities the following day. A 2-3 hour outpatient stay at the Clinic can be anticipated.
Medical Abortion
If you choose a medical abortion using Mifeprex(RU486), the medication is given at the clinic after counseling and ultrasound sizing.
Two days later, another medication is given which induces cramps and bleeding usually heavier than a menstrual period. We will see you back 3 weeks later. Medical abortions are 95-98% effective. Should it fail, we will do a suction curettage at no additional charge if done at our facility.
Counseling
Counseling is included in the procedure fee and will help a woman explore her feelings regarding her pregnancy and the alternatives available to her. Counselors discuss birth control, post-operative care, and the abortion procedure/
